Germany: Day Six

We escaped das Hotel - which sits on the west side of a street where the Wall once ran - and headed straight for coffee then past Potsdamer Platz to the Brandenberg Gate and embassy row.

A middling crowd outside Hotel Adlon got our attention as an Indian convoy headed out. A local claimed it was Manmohan Singh, but we remain skeptical.

Down past the Spree and into line for the Reichstag's glass dome. 30 minutes later, and we were taking in the best Berlin views around, not to mention flitting w/ some of the very harrowing ghosts of the 20th century.

Down ritzy Friedrichstraße to walk around Checkpoint Charlie, but en route we stopped at a Dussmann's for some CD & book browsing (Tati's Trafic on DVD!). Too bad that the Checkpoint Charlie museum was a 10 euro affair - didn't seem worth it.

Back to the hotel, quick nap, then in the car to drive down to Olympic Stadium, which resides in a beautiful, Forest Park-esque neighborhood. Stopped at Pico's for a great Italian meal then back to the room where Ryan C & Claire are studying German, and Tony reads "Divided City: The Berlin Wall."
